Who we are

GapCheck is a product of Codewave Studio. When this policy refers to "we", "us", or "our", it means Codewave Studio. When it refers to "GapCheck" or "the service", it means the software product available at trygapcheck.com.

What we collect

• Email address: collected when you request a full analysis report. Used to deliver your report and occasional product updates.
• Submitted content: the text, URLs, or other material you submit for analysis. This is required to provide the service.
• IP address: collected for rate limiting and abuse prevention. Treated as personal information and used solely for this purpose.
• Usage data: anonymized events such as analyses run, share clicks, and accuracy feedback. Collected via a third-party analytics provider.
• Payment information: processed directly by Stripe. We receive transaction confirmation (amount, date, subscription status) but never see or store your card details.

AI processing disclosure

To generate analysis results, the content you submit is sent to third-party artificial intelligence providers. GapCheck uses multiple AI models and providers, which may change over time as we evaluate quality and performance. Your submitted content is used solely to generate the analysis response and is not used to train AI models.

You should not submit content that contains personal information about others, trade secrets, or material you are not authorized to share with third-party services. By submitting content, you consent to it being processed by our AI providers for the purpose of delivering your analysis.

How we use your data

• To provide, operate, and improve the GapCheck service
• To deliver your analysis report and results link by email
• To send occasional product updates (you may unsubscribe at any time)
• To enforce rate limits and prevent abuse
• To evaluate and improve analysis quality using aggregated, anonymized feedback

Accuracy feedback you submit (thumbs up or down on results) is collected in aggregate and used to evaluate and refine our analysis approach. This feedback is not linked to your individual identity and is not used for AI model training.

Third-party services

We use the following third-party services to operate GapCheck, each of which may process personal data on our behalf:

• AI providers: process submitted content to generate analysis results
• Stripe: payment processing
• Brevo: transactional email delivery

We do not sell your data to any third party.

International data transfers

Some of the third-party services we use are based outside Canada, including in the United States. When your data is transferred to these providers, it may be subject to the laws of that jurisdiction. We take reasonable steps to ensure that any such transfers are handled responsibly and that your information receives appropriate protection.

Data retention

• Analysis results and submitted content are retained for 12 months
• Email addresses are retained until you request deletion
• IP addresses used for rate limiting are retained for 90 days

Your rights

Under Canada's Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA) and applicable provincial privacy laws, you have the right to:

• Access the personal information we hold about you
• Request correction of inaccurate information
• Request deletion of your data
• Withdraw consent to marketing communications at any time

If you are located in the European Union, the United Kingdom, California, or another jurisdiction with applicable privacy rights, you may have additional rights under local law. We will honor all reasonable requests regardless of your location.

Cookies and tracking

We use analytics to understand how the service is used and to improve the user experience. We may use cookies or similar browser storage technologies for this purpose. We do not use advertising cookies, engage in cross-site tracking, or sell behavioral data to any third party.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected in an updated "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Continued use of the service after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
